Linda Schenk on Team Networking 2.0: Where High Tech Meets High Touch
Twenty years ago, when Curt Kowalski of Team Network started bringing groups of mutually exclusive small business people together on a regular basis for no other purpose than to generate referrals together, no one had ever heard of the idea. “How refreshing” these business people would tell him. “You mean I don’t have to join any committees, or do fundraising or any of that stuff I don’t have time for? We are just going to put the cards on the table and exchange business with my local business community? Cool… Sign me up!” Today of course, networking groups are on every corner. They’re everywhere!
Thursday, the 4th of February, with the launch of the new Team Network website and the launch party that will accompany it, he thinks he may hear that ol’ reaction again. “You mean Team Network is combining the friendly, high-touch networking group concept with the new high-tech social media networks like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter?”
I was the featured speaker before the celebration party and spoke to about 120 people about how social media is changing the way we connect!

I presented an overview of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube. The audience had many questions about these tools and how they can be used for their businesses.
Team Network is working on a plan to incorporate these tools with their “marties” (meetings + parties), real life events that meet monthly. In between events, members can use Facebook and other sites to quickly exchange contacts and ideas, or just get to know each other better. This makes the real life parties even more fun!
